GENERAL

The Modern Foreign Languages department aims to develop pupils’ knowledge, understanding, skills and performance through a wide range of tasks and activities.

We try to organise trips to France every year and hope to take our KS4 pupils to Spain before the GSCE exams next year.  We would like to develop internet contacts with schools in France and Spain/Latin America and fully support the school’s International School Status.  We run a number of lunchtime activities (Year 7 French club, Boules club, Year 10 Spanish Film Club, Year 11 exam workshop).  We have good contacts with the primary schools.  Part of the department’s contractual obligations is to provide MFL teaching to our feeder primary schools. Presently this involves 1 day at St Michael’s Junior School and 0.5 day at Southdown Junior School.
